Hippos Make Me Happy

Hello!

Today I am sharing a couple of projects using my new favourite set Hippo Happiness. This is seriously just the cutest set ever, not only is there a hippo but also a little sheep AND a unicorn.

With such cute characters I automatically want to play with some colours from the subtle collection.

I made two similar cards but one was a bit more complicated.

To start off I cut all the supplies I needed. I cut two front panels in Whisper White for my cards which were 1/4 inch smaller than my card base, ie: my card base was 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" so the panel I cut was 4 x 5 1/4 inches. (I am using letter size cardstock for my base because I ordered in bulk last year from the US and still have a lot left, if I was using an A6 card base I would still cut the panel 1/4" smaller).

On each card panel I cut out a scalloped frame in the centre but slightly up, I didn't measure this, I just eyeballed where I wanted it.

Next I stamped my hippos in Highland Heather ink and cut them out.

For the first card I took a piece of white card stock and wanted to create a background that looked like sprinkles or confetti. There are some background stamps but because I wanted different colours and didn't want they to over lap I decided to use the unicorn horn stamp (they really are magical!).

I then stuck it behind the window in the front panel and tucked in my little hippo. To finish off the card I stamped the sentiment onto some white card stock and then used the Lovely Labels pick a punch to cut it out and mounted it on a piece of the Highland Heather cardstock.

For my second card I worked with the same idea but instead of stamping confetti I decided to make a shaker card because they are so much fun!

I took card stock in Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Pool Party and Highland Heather and cut them into 3/4 inch strips which I adhered to my card base.

To put together the shaker card I took a sheet of the window acetate and stuck to the back of the front panel, I then carefully added strips of foam tape around the window, because of the shape I cut them up into little pieces and it looked quite messy but it did the job.

The sequins I have used are just from my stash so I popped them down on the front of the card base and then positioned the front panel over the top. Because my front panel was smaller than the base and needed to be centred this was the easiest way to do this.
