Life Paper Scrapbook Summer Scrapbook Kit

I am so excited about the new Life.Paper.Scrapbook. Kit. I put it together to scrap some summer memories but wanted to put together a slightly bigger kit that didn't need add-ons to pad it out, it is packed with lots of goodies including 10 sheets of beautiful patterned paper, 4 sheets of cardstock, 2 alphabets and lots of fun embellishments.
So far I have done two layouts but only had a chance to photograph one.
Everything I used on this page is in the kit except the Studio Calico Mister Huey Ink (however that is available in the store). I am totally in love with the Amy Tangerine Wood Veneer Cards and I layered it with the Teresa Collins cut apart paper to create part of the title.
I am also mad about the font of the Crate Paper Close Knit Thickers

The kit is currently available in the new Life.Paper.Scrapbook Shop and is $45 plus post but if you purchase ANYTHING from the store until Friday 25 October, use the code NEWLPS10 to get 10% off your entire order.

Thanks for stopping by,

Scrap Our Stash: October Sketch

Time for this month's Scrap Our Stash Sketch challenge and this month the twist is to use mist, paint, watercolors or gelatos. Here is the sketch we all used:
I often use mists on layouts to do splatters but other than that they tend to just sit on the shelf gathering dust, so this challenge was a chance to use them and also to step out of my comfort zone a bit.
For the base of my layout I gave the cardstock a good misting of yellow then at the top of the page I sprayed a lot of pink and then held the page up so it would run down, I really liked that it came out very similar to the tulips in the picture. The other thing I did was use red and yellow ink to colour the wood veneer cards and then used a wet paintbrush to merge the ink to give a watercolour effect.
I am super happy with how the whole page came out and it definitely makes me want to use my mists more often. Now I just have to learn not to be scared of my Gelatos ;)

Please join us over at Sketch with Stash Challenge this month. We would love for you to get out your stash of mists, paints, etc, create a layout inspired by our sketch and show us how you use your paints, mists, etc! You have until October 29th to link up you take on both of our October Challenges for a chance to win our monthly prize and/or possibly being selected as one of our Design team Top 3 Picks!

Have a beautiful day,

Life.Paper.Scrapbook. October Colour Challenge

It's time for another colour challenge at Life.Paper.Scrapbook. and this month's colour palette is a little more subtle than the past ones but still lots of fun.
For my background I used a piece of Gossamer Blue exclusive paper and added Elle's Studio Penelope and some Maggie Holmes for the aqua.
I also got to use some new embellishments that I got recently including some Crate Paper Frames and Wood Veneer from the Close Knit Collection and a frame from the Pebbles From Me to You Collection, but mixed them with some older embellishments too.
You will want to play along with this one too because there is an awesome prize up for grabs from Freckled Fawn. The october Oh Deer Me kit and it is packed with some fantastic exclusive items including wood veneer and a cute stamp set.
Head over to the Life.Paper.Scrapbook blog  to see the awesome creations by my fellow DT members and for all the details on how to play along.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend,

Frosted Designs - Sea Breeze Kit

This month I had the chance to play with the new Frosted Designs Scrapbook Kit - Sea Breeze. I really like how versatile the kit was, as well as the Magpie layout I shared on Tuesday I made another layout and two cards. I still have plenty left over and plan to make some more when I get a chance to have some scrappy time.
I took this photo of some wild flowers in the paddock across the road and the Echo Park Here and Now paper was a perfect match for the colours. I didn't want to take too much away from the photo so I used lots of white space and just added some PP underneath to give some pops of colour.
I had plenty of supplies left over so I decided to make a couple of cards.
As you can see the variety in this kit is enough to make very different styles of work.
There are still some of these limited kit available but once they are gone they are gone. So why don't you pop over to Frosted Design store today and grab one, before you miss out.....
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Feather Tutorial

Today I am up on the Frosted Designs Blog sharing a tutorial I did for a layout I made with the October Kit - Seabreeze.

The first layout I made was a page about a Magpie that comes and visits our garden. I loved the feathers in the Studio Calico ephemera back but they weren't quite big enough to give my layout the impact that I wanted so I decided to use some of the lovely patterned to create my own.
1. First I cut out feather shapes from the paper. I did these freehand but if you are a bit unsure you can draw the shape you want on the back of the paper you are using.
 2. Next take the feathers stitch up the centre with your sewing machine. I haven't tried it using hand stitching but I don't see why it couldn't be done, infact it would be a great way to add a pop of colour.

 3. Next I took my paper scissors and carefully cut in towards the centre. It is very IMPORTANT that you do not cut all the way to the thread because you may snip the stitching or if you leave the centre bit too thin it could fall apart.
 4. Once I finished cutting both sides I carefully "ruffled" them. You need to do this very carefully as you could tear the centre stip of paper and the whole thing will fall apart.
5. This is the finished product and below you can see how I used them on a page.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I will answer them the best I can. Have a great day!

Scrap Our Stash - Tic Tac Toe

Sorry I have been absent for a few weeks, it has been hectic finalising and getting Issue 3 of Life.Paper.Scrapbook. ready and live online, it really takes all of my time and concentration but I do love it and I love the inspiration I get putting it all together. It is completely packed with beautiful layouts, minis and cards and if you haven't had a chance to read it yet you can find it HERE.

Today I wanted to share with you my newest layout for Scrap Our Stash Challenge which was a Tic Tac Toe challenge using this chart:
Thanks for stopping by,

This should have been a super easy and fun challenge right? Well silly me didn't know that Tic Tac Toe was what I grew up calling Naughts and Crosses. So I thought that is was like some kind of Sudoku puzzle where you can only have one item in any one line - if that makes sense.
Well it probably doesn't but it did to me at the time. So that is why I have 5 of the elements instead of just 3 because once I worked it out I had to add some additional items LOL. (Washi, arrows, wood veneer, journal cards, and decorative pins). All that said I actually love how it came out. The 3 tic tac toe items are the Journal cards which I used for layering under the picture, decorative pins and arrows.
There is still a little bit of time to play along but there is a new challenge released this week so make sure you check the Scrap Our Stash Blog for all the details - there is a great prize pack up for grabs.
