Poppy Love

Hello Again!

I recently saw a great video by Jennifer McGuire where she used the spotlight technique where you stamp an image several times and then colour just one part. It's a very simple but effective technique and doesn't require a lot of supplied.

I started out with a poppy stamp from the retired Stampin Up! Oh So Eclectic Set. I absolutely adore poppies so I had to have this set.

I stamped the image several times in Memento Black Ink and because I wanted them overlapping in some places I made a mask. I don't have masking paper so I just stamped the image on a piece of scrap paper, cut it out and placed over the area I wanted to mask.

Once I had my poppies in place I stamped the striped border along the bottom, this stamp is an old one I have in my stash but it is very versatile.

Next I coloured my image using alcohol markers. I did this after all the stamping was in place in case I messed up, which was ironic because it was the marker that went wrong. I somehow managed to flick some dots of ink. I decided to remedy this by placing some sequins where the marks where.

Finally I added all the finishing touches: a sentiment stamped on card stock that matched my base, some gold glitter paper and put the finished front piece onto a card base.

I really love how it has turned out and plan to make some with some different sets.

Thanks for stopping by!
