Spring is in the air (allegedly!)

So I have probably mentioned this before but I live in Melbourne, Australia but I am not from here originally. I spent the best part of the first three decades near Sydney which is north of here.
I have now lived down here for about three year and I CANNOT get used to the weather here. Melbourne is famous for having four seasons in one day but this is a blatant lie because there is only two - autumn and winter! Today is the first warm day and we are almost in November but just so we don't get too used to it it will be cold again by the weekend. Anyway the point is I recently made this page as a celebrate Spring layout but apart from the blossoms (which have all blown away now) it still feels cold.

I used bits and pieces for all over the place but had some printed tissue paper that I was not sure what to do with so I made a paper flower. Here is a close up:

It was super easy to make, I just followed this youtube tutorial by Emma from Feeling Fuzzy

I have also put the new Christmas journal cards in my Etsy Shop and as an opening special you can get 40% off your order by using the code: OPEN40

I may be the worlds worst blogger...

I do have good intentions but life seems to be getting in the way. I am at University and that takes up a lot of time with homework etc and then when I am done with all that I generally want to scrap so blogging is fairly low on my priorities. But I am making an effort to get back to it... I promise :)

Anyway I wanted to share a page I did a couple of weeks ago. At my parents place (where I still lived until recently - long story) there is a little Blackbird that seems to be on his own and is always fossicking in the back yard. He seems to do a good job at it because he is a little fat bird!

Anyway I loved the chevron pattern on the back of the My Minds Eye Tapestry paper that came with SC Central High kit. It was lying on my desk sideways and I got the idea that it was the shape of a birds beak. So I started from there.

I wanted to sew the little triangles on but of course my sewing machine had a tanty! Anyway I forged ahead and although it is not the best stitching it worked with the rest of the page (and I was not giving up my beloved chevron paper!).

I also used my Silhouette. It is an SD and we have a major love/hate relationship - it loves to ruin the cuts and I hate it. But for once I managed to get it to work which means maybe we can become friends after all.

The title is made with the Amy Tangerine Baxter alphabet. I wasn't sure what to do with them when I first got them but after using them here I have decided I absolutely love them.

WOW This has been long post for me but before I go I just wanted to mention I have been working on some journal cards that will fit project life page protectors and are perfect for December Daily.
Here is a peak:

These are printable and are available through my Etsy Store.

The Price of Beauty

Hi everyone, sorry for the absence. I would like to say it is because I have been super busy doing fun things but infact all I have done is a round of dental appointments and lost my scrappy mojo.
Never fear, it is back and I am up today with a layout I made for the Scrap Friends Sketch Challenge #6 which looks like this:

I wanted to grunge the page up a little to match the photo (walking around in my stockinged feet! What would my grandmother of said?) so I cracked open the gesso and distressed the edges of my paper with a nail file.

My poor sore feet, those heels kill me but I love them so!

One part of the sketch I really liked was the thread element so I knew I wanted to include that in my finished layout the challenge was to make it happen. So I used a couple of dots of glossy accents and then held the thread in place with some wood veneer stars.

Thanks so much for stoping by, hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
